van der Pant:  Can anyone please help me to track the source of this my mother's name.  My Dutch cousins, say it is not of Dutch origin.  What could  the source be?  thanks from the very west coast of Canada    Jon

In 2007 there lived only 29 people with the name Van der Pant in the Netherlands (on a total of about 17.000.000 inhabitants)

But it appears that the Van der Pant name was very common in other centuries (source https://www.wiewaswie.nl , 1438 results, starting in 1640

When I last checked was about year 2000 and there were only 77 vdP then. Nearly extinct.  I have them traced to 1685 all in NDL. And I was given two Dutch names at birth.    Thanks for pointing out these details.   j
